The Big Picture - Top Skills You Should Possess:
- Procedural/process documentation skills
- Financial process documentation experience
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
What You'll Be Doing:
- Explain business processes in simple procedural language
- Write technical direction on business process controls.
- Meet with business process representatives to establish specifications.
- Study drawings, specifications, reports, and process samples.
- Create procedural documentation based on a federal government framework provided.
- Ensure verbiage is easy to understand by the layperson.
- Gather information on their subjects in libraries and on the web.
- Prepare charts, graphs, or forms to go along with rough drafts.
- Ensure procedures flow in the correct sequence.
- Write clear and concise policies and procedures.
- Create table of contents and cite sources.
- Submit copies to managers for feedback.
- Adjust copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.
- Release the document following final approval.
- Provide updates and different editions as necessary.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Five (5+) years of technical writing or procedural documentation required
- Finance documentation experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and knowledge of Excel
- Experience creating procedural documentation based on a federal government framework is highly preferred
