Projektbeschreibung

The Director of Science Communications and Programs is a newly created position. The Director is responsible for implementing, evaluating and communicating aspects of LUNGevity Foundation's lung cancer research program, as well as developing educational content regarding scientific and medical advancements in lung cancer.

The position will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Research and Education, and will also work closely with LUNGevity's Scientific Advisory Board and the Research and Program Services Manager. The ability to clearly communicate medical advances around lung cancer in person and in writing to lay audiences is a key requirement.
The ideal candidate will be based in either the New York or Washington, DC, metropolitan areas, although there is some flexibility.

Major Responsibilities and Duties include:
•Develop patient education materials (videos, brochures, slide presentations)
•Develop medical and scientific content for the LUNGevity website
•Create medical and scientific content for other LUNGevity publications (annual report, newsletters, marketing brochures)
•Working with the Research and Program Services Manager, contribute to the Foundation's grant programs: Career Development Award, Early Detection Award and Targeted Therapeutics Award
oTrack, assess and report on research award program productivity, including managing review of all annual progress reports from award recipients
oParticipate in assignment of reviewers and compilation of reviewer feedback for annual research awards
oAttend all LUNGevity Science Meetings
•Identify and report on scientific discoveries by current and former award recipients, including their impact on lung cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
•Develop and manage webcasts and teleconferences focusing on updates from key medical meetings for lay audiences
•Participate in fundraising and other LUNGevity activities designed to promote awareness about the organization.
oCoordinate presentations by scientists at events and attend events as needed
oWork with fundraising staff to develop proposals in specific areas of interest to donors or prospects
oOversee communications by award recipients with donors
•Follow current trends in basic and clinical research related to lung cancer and keep the Board and staff apprised of new developments.
oAttend annual national cancer meetings (AACR, ASCO, IASLC)
oStay abreast of the biomedical research landscape as it pertains to lung cancer
