A major public sector company is looking for an experienced Director for Human Resources

The role will involve challenge current practice and support the organisation in moving to a more mobile, flexible and productive workforce to enable the Council to work in innovative ways that are more committed to customer focus and which promote the profile of the Council as a valued delivery partner to stakeholders.

Job Purpose

The Director for Human Resources determines the people strategy that delivers the organisational goals and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, high levels of customer service standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and on-going development of a world-class workforce. The role will work in Partnership with external providers and ensure that any externalised provision delivers against an outcomes framework.

To operate within an internal consultancy framework, providing support, advice and guidance to the Chief Executive and CLT/PLT.

ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Educated to degree level with a CIPD or other post graduate qualification in human Resources/development or equivalent by experience.
- Extensive experience of leading large-scale change projects successfully.
- Significant experience of leading, developing and implementing HR strategy and embeddin
- new ways of working across a large and complex organisation.
- High levels of interpersonal, communication and influencing skills including demonstrable experience of creating effective working relationships and the ability to establish credibility with Senior Managers, Members and other key stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of the current and future issues facing local government and the wide public sector, both nationally and within Essex.
- Substantial leadership experience of working in a large and complex organisation.
- Excellent understanding of key local government politics, political structures and culture.
