Digital Web/Dev Ops

THE DWP ARE SEEKING TO HIRE A DIGITAL WEB OPS EXPERT FOR INITIALLY A 12 MONTH CONTRACT. THIS WILL BE AT THEIR WARRINGTON BASE.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide Web Operations support and leadership to the CTO Experiment Team, creating and administering Servers on local and cloud hosting.
This will deliver the following business benefits:
a. Demonstrate technologies and applications for CTO to guide the Digital Blueprint and in-turn, the DWP Digital Services,
b. Operate Alpha services on behalf of the CTO function to support work packages including the work of the DWP Green Team The role of the contingent labour will be overseeing the designing, building, and testing of environment and ensuring the hosting environment is designed, implemented and secured using industry best-practice experience. Transfer of knowledge to DWP staff is also a requirement, to ensure DWP is building it's own Digital Capability.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

* 3 years Web Operations experience and working in high profile, complex, dynamic agile design teams, with demonstrable evidence of working in both Devoperationally manage Linux Servers, deliver complex web application stacks; build and configure new server platforms along with the automated tooling; testing, debugging and troubleshooting of platform level problems; supporting development teams with configuring applications for deployment; and dealing with application deployment strategies and continuous integration.

* Demonstrable Experience required: Configuring web and application Servers; building and supporting a large production platform; debugging a complex multi-server service, Scripting and basic programming; designing and supporting robust build, deployment and configuration management systems; administering application Servers, servlet containers, and web Servers; unit testing and automated testing tools; use of Virtualization systems, Cloud computing, Networking concepts, technologies, and protocols.

* A strong technical foundation in build, release and environments as well as a familiarity with network protocols and common web application architectures is essential.
