Description of Project or Company/Organization:
Calian is currently looking for a Digital Information Archivist to work at the Directorate of Land Synthetic Environments (DLSE), formerly the Army Simulation Centre in Kingston Ontario. DLSE has been delivering simulation-based training to the Canadian Army elements since 1998, and in its 14 years of operation, has amassed volumes of exercise materials, almost exclusively digital in format.
Job Description:
Working as part of the Training and Support Services team for the Directorate of Land Synthetic Environments, the Archivist will leverage his/her knowledge to address the challenging information management issues facing this technology driven organization. By applying information management methodologies, the Archivist will organize, categorize, and publicize the amalgamated organizational data to achieve document reuse and knowledge preservation. The Archivist will be aided in this task by specialized software which will instantiate the knowledge repository. Because of the technical demands presented by both the information environment and tools employed therein, the successful candidate must have a strong background in information technology.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent Undergraduate degree or diploma in a technology-related discipline
- Two (2) years experience in information management of digital information
- Experience planning, administering, organizing, and/or supporting digital information repositories
- Experience administering Microsoft SharePoint sites
Desirable Qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certification for SharePoint services
- Bilingual fluency in English/French is desirable, but not necessary
Special Conditions: - Canadian Federal Government clearance
