Devops Engineer: Java/Websphere/Linux

DevOps Engineer: Java/Linux/DevOps/Agile/SCRUM/Tomcat/Spring/Maven/Git/Atlassian Stash/WebSphere/CE/Jenkins/Jira/Shell Scripting/VMware/Nexus/Puppet/Chef/Rundeck/Artefactory/Deploy/Automation

I am looking for an experienced and technically sound DevOps Engineer with strong experience as a Java developer and experience in Linux administration. This is a 3 month contract role based in central London offering up to £500 per day.

You will be an expert in Java, core Java, J2SE and have experience in Java 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6. You will have experience of Linux environments and WebSphere. You will have experience using your technical IT knowledge and skills in Java and Linux in a DevOps Engineer role providing technical expert level suggestions and implementing them throughout the business. You must also have experience in Tomcat, Spring, Maven and Git and those who can demonstrate a deep understanding of virtualisation technologies like VMware will be at an advantage.

You must come from a blue chip company; preferably from the banking or financial industry. This is a 3 month contract role based in central London and offers a day rate of between £450-500 per day.

The role will entail but not limited to:

*Provide expert level subject matter Agile software development practices

*Be responsible for supporting existing platforms including virtualisation, Atlassian Stash, Jira and Confluence

*Perform best practice on Java in a Linux environment including for Building, packaging, deploying and auditing

*Use automated tools to release/deploy processes

*Identify opportunities for service improvements with the aim of creating an environment of continuous improvement

To be eligible for this role you will have the following skills/experience:

*Extensive experience in developing Java
*Experience in core Java, J2SE and Java 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 is essential
*Proven experience of Linux administration and good experience in a DevOps role
*Experience in Tomcat, Spring, Maven, WebSphere and Git
*Experience of Agile and SCRUM
