About the role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team to support, maintain and improve Abcam's production and development web infrastructure.

Duties to include:

Work as part of a busy DevOps team maintaining and improving all aspects of the development and production web environments including on premise, private cloud and cloud infrastructures.
Support the production and development environments and provide incident troubleshooting, problem solving and resolution
Provide infrastructure expertise to other teams
Plan and implement proactive project work
Carry out infrastructure maintenance tasks such as backups and DR drill procedures
Environment capacity planning
Embrace the DevOps methodology
Conduct research on emerging technologies
Look to improve efficiency through automation
Assist with managing web application deployments
Be aware of, and implement best practise security methods

About you

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be personable and enthusiastic with a drive to deliver excellent service. You will have the ability to effectively communicate and be able to present problems and recommendations.

You will ideally have a degree in computing or a numerate related degree and have significant commercial experience with managing and maintaining Windows Server 2008/2012/Linux environments.

It is essential that you have good technical understanding of Windows Server 2008/12 and demonstrate a clear understanding of networks and their underlying protocols. Ideally you will also have Linux OS experience and have managed/maintained a SQL 2008/12 environment. Experience with automation tools (Puppet, Chef) and a VMware environment are a bonus.
