Devops Engineer

DevOps Engineer - Cardiff - Linux/UNIX - Perl/Python/Ruby - MySQL

A well known Digital Media Company in Cardiff are seeking to recruit a DevOps Engineer with a solid understanding of engineering principles and demonstrable experience in maintaining a complex, business-critical distributed system. You will be responsible for supporting the data processing pipeline my client's audio and video analytics system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain robust, scalable, high-performance systems
- Work to best software engineering practice & write concise, comprehensive technical documentation
- Write unit and integration tests using automated test frameworks
- Liaise with the product manager and technical lead to achieve the required product feature

Essential Skills & Experience

- Excellent Linux/UNIX skills and extensive experience working with Perl - the hiring manager would consider Python or Ruby experience
- Working knowledge of relational database systems such as MySQL
- Experience supporting production systems through problem diagnosis and maintenance.

Desirable Skills & Experience

- Knowledge of Hadoop and/or Map-Reduce would be highly desirable
- Experience working with operations teams to troubleshoot problems throughout the lifetime of an application
