Devops Database Engineer - Amsterdam

My client is looking for an ambitious IT professional to become a DevOps Engineer in the area of Regulatory Reporting, the client are an Investment bank based in the heart of Amsterdam.

The eTrading team within the Financial Markets delivers functionality together with our stakeholders. As a team we are responsible for the end-to-end Agile software and feature delivery of a stable trading system, with that we mean Feature analysis, Development, Configuration, Testing and Support Operations. Applications: Ullink, Horizon, Geisha and in-house built software. We're currently looking for someone focusing on in-house build Regulatory Reporting functionality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES DEVOPS ENGINEER

- Working within the e-trading team in Amsterdam with a focus on European high profile equity, sprinter trades transactions.
- Providing Application (production) support to applications in the areas of tracking the financial markets(FIX, CATS, EURONEXT etc), including testing, monitoring and automation.
- Understanding the behaviour of your Application in failure scenarios, and driving
- improvements in line with reliability objectives.
- Understanding and monitoring the entire technology stack your Application is running on.
- Understanding how your Application fits into the overall chain(s) of systems that implement business processes, and working with your "chain neighbour" teams where necessary to improve reliability, efficiency and simplicity.
- Capacity and Performance management of the (vendor) infrastructure.
- Understanding of Life Cycle Management, ITIL and DEV-Ops work culture and ethics.
- Good in Communications (verbal, written) with traders for any business related issues, markets and/or 3rd party vendors.
- Flexible in working hours and shifts.

PROFILE

MANDATORY

- You have experience supporting Oracle databases in operational activities, SQL and PL/SQL in particular.
- You have experience in monitoring, debugging and tuning of applications.
- You enjoy to come up with solutions in new technologies and new innovations.

BASIC UNDERSTANDING

- Oracle APEX, this is the tool used to build the Regulus GUI.
- Linux
- Tomcat
- Apache
- Oracle ORDS, deployed in Tomcat, connects to APEX in the database.
- Python (or comparable Scripting language)

NICE TO HAVE

- You have good product knowledge in Financial Markets context like equities, bonds, etc.
- You have experience in working as a DevOps Engineer (ITIL and Agile methodology)
- You have experience with CD/CI tooling: SVN, GIT, Jenkins, Nolio, automated testing etc.
- You have experience in (multiple) Financial Market vendor packages.
