DEVOPS

The applicant must have demonstrable experience configuring web and application Servers and possess a fundamental understanding of Linux and Windows platforms. An ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting a large scale production platform. Participation in an out of hours on-call rota is a requirement of this role.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Operational management of Linux and Windows Servers, delivering a complex web application stack
- Building and configuring new server platforms and the automated tooling to do so
- Monitoring, alerting, testing, debugging and troubleshooting of platform
- Supporting development teams with configuring applications for deployment
- Sharing on-call duties

SPECIALIST SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

- Highly experienced configuring, managing and monitoring Linux and Windows Servers for serving a dynamic website
- Understanding of common web application architectures
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting complex multi-server services
- Experience with public and private cloud virtualisation (VMWare, vSphere, AWS etc.)
- Excellent Scripting or basic programming skills (bash, powershell, Perl, ruby etc.)

DESIRABLE

- Installation and management of open source monitoring tools (ELK)
- Experience with configuration management and deployment automation tools (Puppet, Chef etc.)
- Continuous Integration experience (Jenkins, TeamCity, CruiseControl etc.)
