Development Team Leader (Agile/Scrum/.Net)

Next Retail LTD is a FTSE-100 retail company employing over 40,000 people across the UK and Eire, and increasingly in Europe. Their Head Office and their Directory Contact Centres are based in Leicester in the East Midlands. They have over 500 stores and numerous Distribution and Warehouse operations.

ROLE:
Reporting to and working with the Project Manager, the primary role of the Development Team Leader is to provide leadership and direction to the developers within the assigned team in order to deliver effective, good quality systems to the Stores and Retail Teams in a timely manner. The Team Leader is expected manage the workload across the development team to ensure the project is delivered to budget, quality and timescales, as well as performing as day-to-day technical lead for the developers in their team. The role involves building strong working relationships with business analysts, software designers, and the test lead, to ensure that artefacts are delivered right first time, all the time. While the main part of the role is leading a development team, there will also be an opportunity to get your hands dirty, and become more directly involved in the creation of the platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Work with the software architects to translate documented designs into code and applications to deliver solutions that meet the functional business requirements.
b) Work with the test team to create detailed scenarios and test scripts to ensure effective quality control of each solution.
c) To ensure code quality meets defined standards, and where those standards do not exist, write them and implement them into the development process. Ensure team standards and working practices regularly reviewed and are understood and adhered to. This will include code reviews with developers, and any other suitable means of assessing code quality.
d) Provide analytical and programming skillsstrong interpersonal and communication skills.
j) Proven programming expertise in C# .NET (3.5, 4, 4.5), XML, XAML, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery and ASP within an application and web environment. Strong understanding of MVC patterns and service oriented architecture development.
k) Proven experience of developing with Microsoft SQL Server databases (2012 preferred) including DTS and SSIS.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Good knowledge of PCI and coding security standards.
b) Understanding and experience of a retail environment and specifically previous EPOS, and/or developing system support platforms.
