Development Scientist (Purification Downstream) Job

Yoh has a long-term contract opportunity for a DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST of downstream purification to join our pharmaceutical client in the Raleigh NC area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and execute small scale experiments independently to define bioprocess steps for producing recombinant protein and/or viral antigens.
- Operate small scale bioprocess equipment including TFF and column chromatography systems. Will be responsible for running experiments on your own.
- Perform biochemical assays to characterize and quantify vaccine antigens and contaminants.
- Assess experimental data to support definition of bulk purification processes. Able to understand data and interpret results.
- Prepare technology development study protocols and reports in support of process transfer and regulatory documents
- Present results to colleagues at internal department and project sub-team meetings.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- At least two (2) years of experience (MS) or four (4) years of experience (BS) prior knowledge of purification processes and process separation technologies (chromatography, NFF/TFF, centrifugation, etc.) is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years working for a pharmaceutical company is required
- Must have experience in application of Design of Experiments and other statistical techniques.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Will be responsible for working independently and delivering results.
- The qualified candidate must be able to effectively partner with a diverse team members from various functions, multiple countries and members at various levels in organization

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

- Experience with GE AKTA chromatography systems/Unicorn software and lab/pilot scale TFF systems is highly desired.
- Demonstrated expertise with analytical methods (eg SDS PAGE, HPLC, Western Blot, ELISA) is a strong plus.
