Development Planning Officer

This role has been released on a temporary basis initally for 6 months. The Development Planning and Regeneration team will drive and facilitate development. This programme will:

* Develop a clear programme for regeneration and place shaping in accordance with the taking an investment and growth led approach.
* Take a robust leadership role and building effective policies and partnership models to deliver a step change in the transformation of the Borough's infrastructure and economic prospects; and organising the full range of professional disciplines in the Council to sharpen our focus on regeneration delivery. A particular focus will be a shift in emphasis from plan-making to place shaping;
* Develop a refreshed and more robust approach to attracting inward investment to the Borough, and securing the socio-economic benefits of regeneration for local people and businesses.

The postholder will:
* Provide support, direction and challenge to external consultants preparing evidence based work - and in particular the economic analysis study,
* Assist with the public consultation stage of the Council's Community Infrastructure Levy Draft Charging Schedule - consultation logistics and public engagement,
* Provide advice to colleagues on the policy implications of planning applications, and
* Provide other support as required across the range of activity undertaken by the * Development Planning and Regeneration team.

Qualifications:
* Preference for eligibility for membership of RTPI
* Experience of the preparation of Development Plan and other planning policy documents, including evidence base studies.
* Experience of managing or working with consultants undertaking evidence base studies
* Experience of assisting with public participation / consultation exercises.
* Experience of monitoring development activity, and/or preparing related statistics.
* Experience of survey, analysis, and policy generation associated with the preparation of planning policies.
* Experience of providing advice on the policy implications of planning applications.
