Carbon60 is looking for a number of Development Engineers and Systems Engineers/Design Verification Engineers to work onsite for our in the Bournemouth/Christchurch area and in the Wimborne area in Dorset area.

We are looking for technically skilled engineers Systems and Development Engineers to be responsible for setting up and carrying out Development and Qualification testing in accordance with approved test procedures. As a Development Engineer/Systems Engineer some of the responsibilities of your role will consist of collating equipment and system level requirements qualification evidence in order to demonstrate compliance to our clients customers requirements.
As Development Engineer you will be expected to follow current departmental process and will be encouraged to participate in the further development of these processes. The successful Development/Systems Engineers and will work as part of an engineering team at IPT level or at product level supporting activity to demonstrate function and performance in environment. We are looking for talented engineers that may have previously gain experience working in one of the following disciplines - a "DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER", "TEST ENGINEER", "DESIGN VERIFICATION ENGINEER", "VERIFICATION & VALIDATION ENGINEER".

As a Systems Engineer/Development Engineer some of the key skills we are looking for in this role are knowledge of the environmental defence standards such as DO160, MIL-STD 810, DEF-STD 00-35 or examples from your specific industry.

Previous environmental qualification activity experience you have managed, such as Vibration, temperature, Evidence of understanding requirements, writing plans and procedures, organising tests, writing reports.

We are not looking for candidates who do the testing and are not really aware of the lead up to it and the work required after.

Previous experience of verifying compliance by similarity ideally within an aerospace sector would be advantages.

AS A DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
Complete the Physical Testing of Hardware and Writing Test Procedures for the department.
Arranging Assets which could be hardware required or test, it could be large/small or looms or any other fixtures required for the test. Identify which test house would be best, depending on the equipment and size. Prepare plans of Action - How to do test - When to do test - Is there logistics involved and raising request accordingly. You will also be witnessing test and have to demonstrate to our clients customers that a clear process is been followed in order to agree conformity.

Other responsibilities of the DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER role include:

REPORT WRITING:
Collating data
Put it in concise way
Recording against requirement in DOORS (requirement gathering software.)

TYPICAL PROBLEMS:
The Development Engineers need to determine whether the requirements from the customer are correct, if not they need to mediate with the customer and come to an agreement.
They will be responsible for finding the right test facilities to conduct the correct test determine.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERS INCLUDE:
Provide technical input to requirements definition and validation.
Customer and supplier facing responsibilities to discuss and agree qualification strategy and activity.
Compilation of development and qualification plans including functional, environmental and mechanical aspects.
Compilation of test procedures and reports.
Analysis and interpretation of test data.
Equipment and system evaluation against requirements to produce qualification statements including analysis and comparison of requirements and build standards.
Input to verification matrices at equipment, sub-system or system level to demonstrate compliance to customers.
Planning, arranging and attending test activities including control of test hardware, test support equipment, transportation and test cost and schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE FOR DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERS WILL IDEALLY INCLUDE:
Relevant degree or equivalent
Experience of requirements management tools (DOORS, CRADLE etc.)
Knowledge of environmental standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810 etc.)
Experience of performing environmental and functional testing
Experience of development engineering activities and understanding of product life cycles.
