My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Brakes Refinement Engineer for their Chassis Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position:Brakes Refinement Engineer

Position Description:
The Brakes Refinement Engineer will work within the Brakes Refinement Team assisting in target setting and vehicle tuning to meet performance targets for the brake refinement attribute for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Benchmark competitor vehicles, including development of any new tests required to characterise the refinement attributes of the brake system. Assist in the development of modelling techniques for early identification of Brake refinement issues. Ensure that new Chassis & Brake designs are compatible with brake refinement targets. Participate in CAE, Brakes Dynamometer and early prototype vehicle pre-development loops to install refinement counter-measures before the main prototype build phases. Work closely with other teams, especially within Chassis Engineering to identify cost effective solutions to any Brake refinement issues.

Skills Required:
Knowledge of industry standard NVH measurement systems (eg LMS, Test.lab, HEAD Artemis, Link etc.) Strong team working skills. Full UK Cat B Driving Licence.

Skills Preferred:
An understanding of related Chassis systems, such as suspension structures. Knowledge of automotive brake system design and the ability to identify the specifications that influence Brake attributes including performance and refinement.

Experience Required:
NVH Issue resolution in an engineering context.

Experience Preferred:
Experience of vehicle test and subjective evaluation. Post graduate experience in a similar role for an automotive OEM or 1st tier supplier. Experience in the use of 6-sigma disciplines ideally trained to Green Belt level Note to Agencies: While this position is in an Automotive Engineering area, the primary skill set required is that for an NVH (Noise Vibration & Harshness)/Refinement/Acoustics engineer rather than an Automotive engineer. It would be beneficial if the candidate had an interest in cars and a background in Automotive Engineering would be ideal. This is a junior engineer position and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain additional relevant training within role but it is unlikely that a graduate with less than 2 years relevant NVH test or development experience would be recruited to this position.

Education Required:
Degree in Acoustics, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering demonstrating a bias towards Acoustics.

Education Preferred:
Post graduate research based PhD in CAE-based topic
