Developer (Web/Internet Applications)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

- Works as project team member to develop Internet and Intranet Web applications, as well as syndication feeds. Development tasks include coding, testing, debugging, documenting, peer-reviewing, deploying, monitoring, and support. All tasks are performed in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards.
- Works with internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for the successful completion of development and maintenance assignments (eg business development, database development, web designers, end-user training).
- Maintenance and support of existing templates and content production processes this assures that our processes are functioning correctly.
- Spends time learning new skills and enhancing existing ones.
- Contributes to task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules for development and maintenance activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Versatile developer specializing in Web application development.
- At least 3-5 years of previous experience building web sites is required.
- Skills important to success: HTML 5, JavaScript, AJAX and CSS
- Experience with a large-scale web site is a plus. Expertise in HTML 5, JavaScript and CSS is required, and experience with Python, Java, PHP and Flash is preferred. CANDIDATES MUST PROVIDE SAMPLES OF WORK. WYSIWYG EDITORS ARE NOT USED.
- Proficient at writing good, clean HTML 5/CSS 3.0.
- Clear upward communication to Seniors, Leads, Chiefs and Management.
- Research new technologies; provide ideas for technical or workflow/process improvements.

Candidate must show an aptitude for detail. They should display leadership skills such as taking proper responsibility, pursuing solutions to problem, displaying resourcefulness towards accomplishing given task or goals. They must exhibit an ability to focus on mundane functions of their job, as well as being self-motivated to learn new skills in order to accomplish new tasks.
