Developer SQL Server and ETL

A leading Dutch bank Within the COO/Group Services the Asset & Liability Management (ALM) team is looking for a Designer and Developer to re-design the current Data Staging Area and to tailor ETL flows of finance data. The Designer/Developer needs to be capable to be hands-on, oversee complex data flow structures, and has to be experienced in data processing.

Your work environment
To enable the banks monthly financial forecasting processes and to support stress tests, the ALM platform has been set up. The ALM platform consists of a Data Staging Area built in MS SQL Server and C#, which extracts, transfers monthly financial data. The data is loaded in an off-the-shelf application. The off-the-the-shelf application is used by the business lines, Financial Risk, Finance and Bank Treasury to calculate and to report on financial forecasts, and stress tests.

Job description:
Main services delivered by you are:
* Translate functional requirements from business analysts into technical solutions, eg:
o Improve and simplify data loads and ETL processes, despite of differences and variety in country data
o Change data flows, tables, and interfaces, make existing data flows more transparent. Work towards a simple and robust solution with functionality to identify and analyse unexpected differences in data in an early stage
o Implement an additional process to load source data from an additional source system (Oracle OFSAA)
o Together with one colleague developer/DBA-er, improve maintainability and performance of the Data Staging Area
* Carry out a senior engineer role, eg:
o With help of business experts, analyse, understand and get the overview of how monthly financial data and financial products are processed
o If requested, advice Operation engineers in their activities, eg at identifying root causes for incidents related to data errors
o Act as a sparring partner for business users to help them setting up and configuring calculations in the off-the-shelf application, to prevent performance problems
o Give advice about the data to be processed to architects and other developers at a current project to set up a BI layer to improve reporting from the off-the-the-shelf application.

Your profile
* 4 - 7 years of relevant experience with MS SQL Server and ETL
* Experience with Transact-SQL scripts
* Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* A hands-on, and pro-active professional who can keep oversight of complex processes
* You can explain complex matters in a simple way, and are able to slice architecture changes into steps and can work accordingly
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and are willing to learn and understand the world of financial risk. You are able to peel down technical problems, and doing so, you develop new insights

Experienced in, have understanding of, or at least you are interested in the following:
o C# (.Net)
o Large data volumes
o An Agile/Scrum way of working
o Scripts to automate regression testing
o Finance, market risk management or treasury.
