The Company

Our client is one of Australia's leading Financial Services Organisations that has expanded its operations globally. The organisation has a large range of financial offerings to both public and private clients across the retail, corporate and institutional banking areas. They have a very large technical footprint that combines a dynamic range of technologies in an ultimately complex landscape.

Due to an increased amount of companywide strategic programs and a focus on internal analytic systems this organisation is looking for dynamic software engineers to help the team provide solutions across the board.

The Team

This team sits in a large and complex environment which utilises the expertise of Software Engineers, Data Scientists and ETL engineers. They are creating a one stop organisation view on group wide information.

Working from a Big Data hub which extracts information from the entire organisation you will be part of a rapidly expanding team which provides analytic systems to multiple internal business units across the company.

Working as part of the Software Engineering arm of the Big Data team you will be responsible for building lightweight application to draw and analyse data.

This will be done in Scala/Haskel to allow rapid extraction from multiple sources of Enterprise data. They are looking for the top developers in the market to help delivery on an ever increasing pipeline.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

- Strong programming skills in Scala, Haskell and Java. (Ruby, Python or C++ desirable)
- Experience working with large datasets (terabytes/petabytes) using Hadoop and MapReduce.
- Experience with Cassandra, MongoDB or other NoSQL environments
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Experience using R, SAS, SPSS, Mathematica or Statistica for data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, probability theory, and stochastic processes.
- NO Finance Services experience required.
- NO visa required.
