Detailed Design Specialist

This is a rare role to work for a leader in the deployment of Optical Networks Nationally, the most exciting and cutting edge project within telecommunications this decade.

THE ROLE:

THE ROLE IS OFFICE BASED, THE DETAILED DESIGN SPECIALIST WITH BE VALIDATING DESIGNS THAT COME THROUGH FROM THE EXTERNAL DESIGN CONTRACTORS. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ROLE WITHIN THE ORGANISATION AND PIVOTAL IN BROAD BANDING AUSTRALIA. YOU WILL BE LOOKING AT CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES, DECIDING IF THE CORRECT PATH IS TRENCH OR BORE/LOOKING AT ACCESS NETWORKS/GIVING INDICATIONS ON SPLICING AND MORE.

- Working in the construction team, you will look at pit and pipe initiatives and look for the best solution when deploying an access network.
- Inform management of overall progress and any issues of their respective disciplines.
- Coordinate with external contractors to ensure Network Design Document (NDD) is prepared on schedule and quality required.
- Ensure all Detail Designs comply with Technical Specifications and any regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage the data integrity associated with the information developed by and received from external design resources.
- Monitor the design process within the external construction contractors - you will be the one guiding them/checking designs.
- Ensure quality design output is maintained from the contractors and provide input into the design process for constructability, cost minimisation and safety of construction.
- Oversee the engagement and performance of the design contractors
- Prepare approval submissions
- Maintain and update design registers as required
- Assist in the management of key Commercial Aspects of Design, including Schedule of Rates, Unit Cost trends/reductions, productivity improvements, forecast costs, Business Plan inputs.
- Assist with the contractor electrical design compliance and optimization.

YOUR BACKGROUND:

- Must be from an Access network/construction background coupled with a good telco background.
- Knowledge of how a fibre network is constructed.
- Pit & Pipe/Outside Plant Experience.
- Civil or Telco degrees are preferred.
- Hauling/Splicing experience
- Experience in Autocad, Vision or Spatialnet.
