Projektbeschreibung

The Desktop System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.

This individual will assist with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; R technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

SA ENGINEERING AND PROVISIONING:

Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
Install new/rebuild existing Servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems or Servers for projects.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Contribute to and maintain system standards.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Perform day to day task on Desktop administration on UBUNTU/Redhat Linux.
Work with users on their problems and resolve it in line with the SLA.
Should be competent in Open source tools and applications
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

MAINTENANCE:

Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Redhat or Debian.
Three to six years system administration experience

PRIMARY Linux:
Experience in Desktop support.
Experience in UBUNTU/Redhat Desktop.
Knowledge in LDAP, DNS, SAMBA, NFS, NIS etc
Knowledge & hands on Experience on Linux administration commands ( Like finding the file or directory, changing the owner ship to file or directory and permission issue)
User administration ( Create new user, Modify Exist user and password related issue)
Debian package admin. (dpkg,apt)
Package admin ( installing New packages & source file installation)
Service management knowledge (How to start and stop the application services)
Aware of install 3rd party tools in Linux box.
Knowledge in SSH key generation
Knowledge in Desktop Hardware troubleshooting. (RAM failure, HDD diag network card etc)
Knowledge in jobs scheduling (AT and Cron jobs)
Knowledge in sudoers permission
Knowledge in NTP server and client configuration
Knowledge in Create softregularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
Provides occasional guidance, some of which is technical.
