The Desktop Support Technician will assist in the remediation of Windows XP systems in preparation for Windows 7 migration. A strong candidate is driven by results and has experience tracking project deliverables to keep deployment requests on schedule. A strong candidate will also have a detailed understanding of the Windows XP OS and simple networking services such as DHCP, DNS, and AD site definitions. Candidate is expected to run daily/weekly reports and drive remediation efforts across multiple teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Review pre-migration reports from multiple sources and aggregate summary to project teams
- Drive remediation steps for DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory site issues
- Submit remediation service requests with appropriate infrastructure teams and track progress over time
- Communicate weekly overall status updates to project architect and project sponsors
- Field questions from project site contacts
- Perform duties as assigned by the Project Architect
- Assist in development of technical issue remediation processes
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a demonstrated high level understanding of Desktop and Network Engineering technical areas
- Technical understanding of basic network services including DHCP, DNS, and AD Site definitions required
- Must be very organized, able to balance multiple priorities, and driven by accomplishments
- Must be proficient with project summary reporting; Technical documentation experience a very strong plus
Length of Assignment: 6 month contract.
