Desktop Support Technician

Projektbeschreibung

The candidate in this contract position will be responsible for performing on-site or in-house servicing, repair and/or installations in an enterprise environment. S/He must be able to support installation, relocation, modification, diagnosis and repair of PCs and/or associated peripheral equipment. Focus of the position is to minimize system/hardware downtime and to ensure customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate must be able to:

- Perform remedial repair and preventive maintenance
- Perform hardware installation, de-installation, moves, adds and changes
- Lift 50 lbs
- Provide user data and application recovery
- Customize desktop hardware to meet user specifications and site standards
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity, and Workstation hardware/software
- Use tools and methodologies to load, copy and customize operating system configurations
- Familiarize end users on basic software, hardware and peripheral device operation
- Arrange for and/or prepares equipment for shipping/receiving, and handle customer pick-ups for equipment and supplies
- Support and travel between Schaumburg and downtown Chicago as required

- Effectively communicate orally and in writing technical information to non-technical audiences

- Operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members

- Manage time effectively, set priorities appropriately, schedule calls
- Maintain professional demeanor under stress
- Identify opportunities for other CompuCom services/products in customer environment
- Operate within customer standard operating procedures
- Physically lift standard desktop, peripherals, server and network equipment within reasonable limits

Education/Certifications

- Technical degree or equivalent experience
- A+ Certification
- OEM certification for warranty supported products
- At least one vendor software certification (eg MCP, CLS)

Summary of required experience:

- 3+ years supporting enterprise environment
- Microsoft Windows, Office suite, IE and browser based apps
- Blackberry and iPhone support
- Mac support experience would be a great plus
- Experience with Servers would be a plus
- experience with residential networks, including voice, data, entertainment and home automation a plus

This contract position is expected to be 3 months in duration.
