The Client Device/Service Support Specialist has dual responsibility for enterprise-wide definition/build/deployment/management of client platform technologies and day-to-day operations of workstations, peripheral devices, and end-user telecommunications for the Tinley Park, IL location. This includes desk-side support and incident isolation through resolution for Tinley Park-based personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Define a rolling 4-year client device roadmap and capital investment plan
- Architect enterprise client device hardware platforms
- Oversee all desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, Smartphones and related peripherals and software purchases, cost allocation, software licensing, inventory, the end of life and disposal process, and hardware maintenance
- Be recognized as an expert in current and emerging end-user device technologies and trends
- Participate in the selection and implementation of IT supplier sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on-time delivery and cost competitiveness
- Provide status updates on purchases, escalates delivery problems as necessary to affect minimal impact to the operation
- Solicit, receive and analyze proposals, quotations and recommends selection of suppliers
- Maintain contacts with vendors to assure prompt delivery, adherence to specification, and proper pricing
- Serve as liaison between site-based IS/IT team members and vendors
- Follow up to ensure satisfaction with delivered products and services; address problems or concerns
- Maintain and supplier records, service level agreements, software licensing information and updates developing companywide client device standards and procedures
- Provide project planning, documentation and testing software upgrades and patch management
- Work with product manufacturers to leverage equipment ship with pre-built images
- Establish support tools automating delivery and management client device software updates
- Administer client device anti-virus/anti-malware software and updates
- Prepare and deliver daily, weekly, and/or monthly status reports to Infrastructure Manager
- Support all equipment for training room, video conferencing and conference room equipment at all sites
- Perform image management by developing, documenting and updating master images for standard products
- Assess and address IT control and security weaknesses
- Responsible for designing and creating reports related to asset management, metrics and other templates
- Provide Tinley Park, IL desk-side support following incident management process
- Develop and document work procedures and troubleshooting guidelines in ServiceDesk knowledgebase
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors in Computer Science from a four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in professional technology consulting, corporate IT or outsourcing provider environment
- EXPERTISE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: TABLET AND MOBILE DEVICES, HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE CONFIGURATION FOR PCS, TABLETS AND MOBILE
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Intuitive and analytical, Ability to Influence, Conflict Resolution
