Desktop Support Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join their IT team. This is a 12 month fixed term contract based in Melbourne CBD.

This position as Desktop Support Engineer will see you support a large user base. You will provide face-to-face, remote and e-mail support. You will also be responsible for taking over-flow calls from the Helpdesk when required.

As Desktop Support Engineer, you will resolve both hardware and software issues. This will include troubleshooting Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite and Active Directory related issues as well as supporting hardware peripherals (laptops, desktops, Blackberries, printers, etc).

Other duties will include:

- Creating/modifying user accounts in Active Directory
- Applying patches and updates
- Building and setting up desktops and laptops
- Re-imaging PCs
- Assisting in desktop upgrades and rollouts
- Managing and maintaining the IT asset and software license registers
- Creating and updating IT documentation

To be successful in this position as Desktop Support Engineer, you will need to have:

- Previous experience working in both Helpdesk and Desktop Support positions
- Solid experience supporting users in a Microsoft environment
- Strong problems solving and troubleshooting skills
- The ability to multi-task and manage priorities
- Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written)
- A strong customer service focus - be an enthusiastic team member, be friendly, personable and willing to assist users
- Strong attention to detail
- A flexible attitude and respond well to change

An IT related tertiary qualification together would be well regarded.
