DESKTOP ENGINEER - ELGIN IL

RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Architect, package, test and deploy desktop OS builds and various applications in support of desktop management/upgrade strategies.
. Custom package MSI and Non-MSI desktop applications for deployment with multiple technologies while simplifying deployment techniques (SCCM 2012, App-V, XenApp 6.0/6.5, XenDesktop 6).
. Migrate existing SCCM and App-V desktop application packages to new SCCM 2012 environment (with consideration for VDI).
. Custom package, test and distributing hot fixes/patches to desktops as needed.
. Develop utilities to automate repetitive tasks to reduce time of support.
. Analyze current systems/processes and recommend ways to increase speed/configuration consistency.
. Troubleshoot complex desktop issues and provide Level III support to the Desktop team.
. Troubleshoot and enhance desktop security and configuration management through Group Policy Objects (GPO)
. Develop troubleshooting procedures. Maintain installation documentation and how-to procedures.
. Train junior-level technicians on systems and advanced troubleshooting.
. Work with vendors to develop and implement permanent fixes and enhancements to systems.
. Assist in formulating and implementing procedures to improve IT service levels.
. Assist in creating, enhancing and executing detailed work plans/schedules for assigned projects.
. Document and report status/progress of assigned tasks.
. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal error and guidance and in a collaborative team environment

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
. Knowledge and experience developing and deploying unattended operating system installations for workstations/desktops/laptops with an in-depth understanding of hardware-independent imaging capabilities required.
. Experience deploying applications in a large environment required.
. Experience with virtualization technologies such as AppV, XenApp/XenDesktop required.
. Experience managing a desktop environment via SCCM required.
. Strong knowledge and experience with desktop OS build engineering and troubleshooting required.
. Excellent understanding of multiple Windows Client technologies (XP and Windows 7) required.
. Experience with various Scripting languages - VBScript, Powershell, WMI, WQL required.
. Experience developing thorough test and implementation plans for complex desktop projects desired.
