As an Design Engineer you will be a key player in a very fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Primarily you will be involved in the realization and performance analysis of the high power (CO2) Laser -based optical System. In your work you will be cooperating with other disciplines and suppliers where it is expected that you will attend meetings to discuss design aspects, analyze system problems, and support and plan issue resolution with peers. You will be able to present your findings and your results to management. Finally you get the chance and you are encouraged to integrate with the dynamic and diverse community: and you will interact daily with 4,000 like-minded professionals. Job Description

You will be a member of the optical modelling team and will play a key role to support a multidisciplinary team that delivers one or more optical functions.

Main Responsibilities:

- Development of (mainly) optical models for the CO2 Laser beam path
- Documentation and theoretical validation of these optical models
- Validate optical behaviour as predicted by these models with experimental data from system tests
- Define solution for challenges of the involved optical module(s) based on optical modelling results
- Translate optical design challenges and optical phenomena questions to an optical model analysis (in Zemax, FRED or other programs)
- Support interactions with optical module suppliers using own optical design and modelling capabilities
- Give inputs to interfacing projects (source modules or source control functions)
- Develop new modelling capabilities for future developments or structural issues
