Designer Digital Print Process

For our client, a machine-manufacturer in Venlo, we're looking for a DESIGNER DIGITAL PRINT PROCESS.

START: May 2017

DURATION: 6 months + extension

LOCATION: Venlo

LANGUAGES: English (must) and Dutch (preferred)

Within Researchcustomers require our print systems to match printed images to its "originals" perfectly; ranging from A4 prints to prints of billboard size. Only with a smart digital print process, we are able to realize the full potential of our product. The digital print process covers image processing, image analysis, print strategy, measurements and control to achieve perfect image quality.

As a designer you work in a team responsible for realizing the best digital print process by predicting, analysing and optimizing imaging performance of print systems. You apply image processing principles and latest techniques to enhance and optimize images making use of your knowledge of the specific characteristics of inkjet print heads and their artefacts.

Together with your team you translate requirements, from where you will need to design, experiment and validate. It's a hands-on job, and to be successful in this role you understand other disciplines, the system and apply this knowledge to develop the necessary image processing (eg in Matlab) and control algorithms. These algorithms need to be accurate, robust and efficient enabling high quality prints.

You prototype algorithms and software, and you also experiment and test these to ensure your designs meet the requirements. On top of this, you pro-actively look for opportunities to add further value to the product with your solutions.
In this job you experiment, understand and invent. You are able to analyze a complex problem to the root cause, and define new solutions - breakthroughs, achieving new quality or enabling new technology. You work closely with hardware specialists, software developers, and print head experts, critical for high quality prints.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

- MSc in Electronis or Physics (preferably no candidates with BSc level)
- Research and experimental experience and affinity with modelling. The number of years of experience is less relevant.
- Knowledge of and experience with Matlab is required
- To be successful the candidate is creative, handson, a teamplayer and communicative!
- Candidate has profound knowledge - verbal and written - of English. Knowledge of Dutch language is advantageous
