Job Mission

The Development & Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the specification, design and realization of all products in the portfolio.

Within the D&E sector, the Electronic Development department is responsible for the definition, realization and qualification of electronic functions, modules, (sub)systems and infrastructures within these products.

Within EDEV the group System Electrical Architecture is responsible for computer systems inside the products.

In the position of designer you are a key technical contributor to a multidisciplinary team of designers who act on (sub-)system level. You take responsibility for the electronic design and maintenance of various computer systems electronics concepts and products (computers, computer racks & cabinets, processor boards, storage solutions, thin clients, network Switches and cabling, displays, keyboards, trackballs) for new and existing products.

Job Description

* Act as the EDEV representative in a multidisciplinary design team.

* Interact intensively with colleagues from the software department.

* Define, document and maintain requirements of various computer systems electronics products and infrastructure.

* Participate in realization of computer systems electronics products.

* Define, document, and execute tests to ensure that electronic modules within the computer systems satisfy the requirements.

* Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for new or changed functions. Get agreement with stakeholders.

* Contribute to Computer Systems roadmap and building-blocks. COTS solutions and using industry standards are highly preferred.

* Make work breakdown and planning for the various computer systems electronics products, adjusted with other stakeholders.

* Manage outsourcing of computer systems electronics related modules.

* Transfer knowledge to production and service engineers.

* Solving problems during 1st product integration.

* Support production and service as an expert (4th line support)

* Analyze and solve reliability issues.

Education

BSc or MSc in Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Experience

* As from 1 year experience as designer of computer related systems, preferably for application in a multidisciplinary system.

* Knowledge of- and experience with: definition and realization of multi-processor computer systems, networks, and storage.

* Broad technical knowledge of: computer hardware (Sun, PowerPC, (i)PC), operating systems (Solaris, VxWorks, Linux, Windows Embedded), networks (Ethernet, switched fabric), storage hardware, software development (C, Scripting), Real Time design.

Personal skills

* Highly motivated team player with good social- and communication skills. Ability to give technical direction in a team of designers.
