Designer

Client involved high voltage Substation EPC projects is looking for a Sr. Substation Designer with 7-20+ years of experience designing high voltage (128kV or higher) substations. This position will start out as contract with the potential to transition to direct hire. Our client prefers candidate who reside in the New England region, but will consider all qualified candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design & draft either the substation physical layout or the protection & controls areas
- Read one line diagrams and then do the design that is required and translate that to a physical layout or controls scheme
- Prepares non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes or brief verbal guidance
- Modify & design electrical control circuits for substations & switching stations, protective relays, miscellaneous controls, alarms, monitoring devices, transformer controls, breaker controls, SCADA, A.C power and D.C controls
- Develop drawing packages for construction contracts and bill of material for procurement specifications

REQUIREMENTS

- 7-20+ years of experience as a Substation Designer supporting high voltage substation projects
- You must be proficient with MicroStation or AutoCAD software (preferably Microstation)
- You need experience designing & drafting either the physical layout of the substation or the protective relay design of the substation
- Our client prefers candidates that have an AS Degree in drafting technology or related field
