Design Team Leader - Contract

Huxley Associates are currently looking for a Project Engineer

The Project Engineer role does not involve any drawing or detailing, just an understanding of design in order to verify/approve designs. You would be required to write technical documents and specifications, and organise work packages to go to the drawing office, and so on. You would be a Project Lead / Technical Lead working with electro-mechanical hardware.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing a range of different technical commercial projects. You will be required to write specifications, talk technically to customers, progress reviews and
troubleshoot problems.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Technical design lead and team member (although no drawing detailing / design required)
2. Design of systems and the design/selection of electro-mechanical installation hardware to meet contracted requirements and defined standards
3. Liaise / lead project assigned draughtspersons
4. Analysis/establishment of contract technical requirements; (and where appropriate Customer expectations)
5. Preparation of specifications, test instructions, reports and plans
6. Creation of sufficiently detailed work packages for drawing office to produce drawing and parts lists
7. Reviewing drawings and parts list to verify compliance with specified requirements
8. Conduct/organise Technical Trials and testing where required
9. Conduct feasibility studies and engineering assessments
10. Technical liaison with customers, internal departments and sub-contractors
11. Provision of technical assistance to the production department when required
12. Supporting technical reviews/presentations with customer
13. Understanding statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the design
14. Understanding Health & Safety aspects related to own work area and responsibilities
15. Preparation of technical input and estimates for addition of unplanned work
16. Maintenance of effective records of design compliance and source data configuration
17. Good office computer skills in a range of Microsoft applications
18. Experience in the use of Solid Works CAD with ability to operate other CAD packages an advantage (but drawings will be done by the Drawing Office).
19. Will report to the Engineering Department Manager but have accountability to a Programme / Project Manager for technical development and progress for assigned projects
