Reporting into the Business Unit Manager, the Design Manager will be responsible for the management of 8 Design Engineers and for co-ordinating and driving design activity on Electrical, Gas & Water projects. Coming from either a graduate and/or apprentice engineering background (in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Water etc), the Design Manager will be managing and driving multi-steam projects, from large-scale grid connections through to smaller work packages in differing disciplines, so should therefore have full design lifecycle experience, from requirements capture through to delivery. The Design Manager role also requires someone with previous experience of bid / tender management and supporting the Sales / Business Development Function in winning new business, as this will be a key interface and function of the role. In supporting sales & bid-management, the Design Manager should have a strong commercial aptitude, be able to work to project / business deadlines and be able to deliver design projects to time, cost & quality".
