Engineering Lead - Design Build and Support Strategy

As part of the Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) team you will act as engineering lead for the Design Build and Support Strategy workstream. IPPD is a cross discipline business change project focussed on achieving a step change improvement in the product development approach on the new Type 26 Global Combat Ship.
This is a great opportunity to become involved in an exciting area of development in one of the largest new design projects in the UK

Key Responsibilities

*Develop, implement and embed new engineering techniques and process to improve design for production and support
*Lead the Spatial Engineering pilot and drive adoption of Spatial Engineering as a key design process in the Type 26 project team
* Lead the Interim Products pilot and drive adoption of Interim Products as a key design process in the Type 26 project team
* Lead in the establishment of a Value Engineering approach to Standard Parts working across functional teams to deliver an improvement in standardisation
* Responsibility for implementation, education, risks and benefits for each of the above areas.

Experience
* Strong engineering experience in a 'made to order' environment (shipbuilding, process plant, oil and gas)
* Experience of change programme implementation desirable
* Communication and influencing skills essential
* Toolset - MS Office (Excel and Powerpoint in Particular)
