Mechanical Design Engineer - West Yorkshire - up to £40,000 - Permanent

An ambitious and fast growing business we are seeking experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The successful candidate will join an organisation where there is opportunity to be involved in engineering innovation and contribute to their future success.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will report to the Engineering Manager and will be involved with the detailed design, modelling and analysis the products. You will contribute innovative and cost effective solutions for new products and existing systems. This will involve working in a project team using 3D CAD systems to design, model and develop new systems and components as well as existing ones. You may be involved with supporting development, test and NPI and working with customers and suppliers.

The ideal candidate would be a proven design engineer with strong mechanical engineering knowledge with an interest, understanding and ideally exposure to industrial gearboxes, wind turbine or drive train design. You will be able to demonstrate engineering excellence, a 'can do' attitude and an ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems.

Knowledge / Skills Required:

-Experience of a gear box service and repair department desirable
-Experience of decision making on repair & salvage methods used in gear units.
-Engineering Degree or HNC/HND
-Produce high quality design solutions to meet the customer's specifications
-Proven mechanical design ability relating to engine systems or similar
-Understanding of mechanical engineering principals
-Knowledge of gear calculations would be desirable
-Use of high end 3D Solid modelling CAD tools preferably SolidEdge (e.g. ProE, Catia, Solidworks)
-Understanding of full product design lifecycle would be desirable
