THE JOB:

DESIGN ENGINEER - MARINE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS

We are seeking Design Engineers - Marine Mechanical Systems to provide temporary support to an established design team working on a new frigate design. The Design Engineers will be practised in the design and specification of ship engineering systems typically including:- - Fuel systems;
- Lubricating Oil Systems;
- Cooling water systems;
- Bilge
- Waste management and environmental systems;
- Compressed air systems;
- Fire-fighting & salvage systems.

The engineer should possess previous experience of marine system design in either a commercial or a naval environment and be practised in the preparation of design guidance, undertaking detailed system calculations, developing 2D system schematics, specifying systems, equipments and services, assessing and evaluating suppliers' offers, and compiling a Bill of Materials.

Candidates should ideally be qualified to degree level though an HND plus additional experience in this field will be acceptable. IT skills should include an easy familiarity with Microsoft Office.
