Design Engineer, Applications Packager, Novell Zenworks, Windows 2008/2012, Windows XP (Detailed)

We are currently recruiting for a Design Engineer/Packager to work on the consolidation of a desktop build.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Contribute to the design and build a standard stable unified build that meets the needs of the business.

Secure the desktop estate through the deployment of all relevant and applicable patches applied and the application of additional security measures.

The resolution of highly complex technical problems.

Structured testing undertaken on all new technology, software, patches before live estate wide deployment.

Application Packaging and deployments of software to the Corporate Estate.

Candidates MUST be able to demonstrate proven skills in the following areas:

Experience of working in a 3rd line support capacity in an environment consisting of 1000+ users across many different physical locations.

Developing and implementing test plans, effective document management, appropriate policy development and release plans with User and Support Acceptance.

A good knowledge of the importance of patch management and experience of undertaking management of the deployment of patches in live environment.

Experience contributing to the development of standard Operating System builds for a managed desktop estate.

Detailed knowledge of Desktop Operating Systems - Windows XP and Windows 7

Experience of working with a Defect Management process

An in-depth understanding of Windows 2008 Active Directory including Group Policy settings relating to desktop management and configuration.

A thorough technical understanding of the Application Packaging Principals and Toolsets.

Formal Qualifications RequiredAs many as possible of the following:

Certified Novell ZENworks Administrator

ITIL v2/v3 foundation certificate

MCSE Certification Desirable

Experience of working to an ITIL aligned Release Management process.

A good understanding or Experience of Novell ZENworks Configuration Management toolset:
o Software Deployment.
o Patch Management
o Asset Inventory/Management.
o Imaging.
o Personality Migration

Experience of using the ENGL Toolkit, Microsoft BDD (Business Desktop Deployment) or MDT (Microsoft Desktop Deployment Tool).

Experience of Microsoft User State Migration tool

Experience of Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager 2012

Knowledge of Server O/S  Windows 2003, 2008, 2012

Knowledge of Linux Desktop Operating Systems
