Design Engineer

Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. Potential travel.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

SKILLS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Five to seven engineering experience required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

- A background or job-related experience in the area of machine design
- Knowledgeable in international and national engineering standards.
- Very good interpersonal, communications, and project management skills are required.
- Leadership ability to develop cooperative working relationships with others both inside and outside of Customer is required.
- Must possess initiative to resolve design issues with minimal supervision.
- High level of proficiency in Pro/E or other modelling or simulation tools is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems is preferred.
- Creativity, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field.
