DERIVATIVES OVERSIGHT MANAGER - INVESTMENT MANAGER - CITY

Our client is a leading name in the Investment Management industry in the UK.

They are looking for an experienced Oversight Manager for Derivatives to manage the day to day issues assigned to or by the appropriate functional team the Asset Servicing partner firm.

The role will perform Investment Management Operations activities that have not been outsourced these will cover activities such as:

- Preparation of trade files from OTC term sheets to be sent to the Asset Servicer
- Preparation of mirroring records from records to be sent to the Asset Servicer
- Managing the Investment Manager Collateral Management available and lent security lists.
- Prepare third party oversight meeting materials, investigate queries, drive closure as required
- To take ownership of the derivative related Technology and Operations processes to perform support for day to day investment management operations and data management activities.
- Participate in relevant internal Change initiatives to ensure implications are known and impacts are managed across the team.
- To comply with all internal, regulatory and statutory standards and controls, ensuring operational risk is managed so there are no reputational or financial significant compliance breaches, so that the requirements of the firm and regulatory bodies are met.
- Build and develop relationships with all related departments and Client representatives, as required, to ensure effective communication and team spirit.

KNOWLEDGE OF BUY-SIDE OTC AND EXCHANGE TRADED DERIVATIVES OPERATIONS OR OVERSIGHT IS SOUGHT. 

- Background - buy-side (Investment Managers - Hedge fund or Retail or Institutional or outsource providers)
- Recent management of OTC
- Recent management of ETD
- Aptitude is to have a clear understanding of Operational Processes from a practical not a BA/PM view so they can design process and partake in contractual negotiations
- Good relationship management skills
- Manage and own the overview of outsource provider, focusing on Investment Operations, for this role the derivatives focused on should be OTC and FX.
- Manage collateral events - Should be able to review reports generated by 3rd party, where information is different between parties understand where differences occur and be able to support operations to rectify.
- Moving forwards will want to include a variety of counterparts. This will need someone to review counterparts and assist with agreements and selection process.
- As well as above will be responsible for assisting the on boarding of extra counterparts (Independent & Corp CFA's etc...) whilst setting up a serious of control functions. Key points in the process to focus on, what's wrong with the operational format and how to improve.
- Be able to hold high levelled conversations with Fund Managers and Lawyers.
- Understand operational aspects of various documents and agreements.
- Negotiate and clear agreements for counterpart OTC trades
- Be able to challenge processes and agreements with suitable justifications and alternative solutions.
