Job Title Deputy Chief Finance Officer (NHS)

Duration: Initial 6 months

Description:
This is a senior role supporting the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to provide:
Financial leadership and guidance to the NSH South Commissioning Support Unit (CSU)
Ensure effective delivery of services to a number of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and other external customers.
As a member of the corporate management team the role will have collective responsibility for:
Successfully delivering the CSU's corporate plan by ensuring it is a demand led business plan that leverages resources to best advantage to maximise outcomes;
Supporting and promoting the activities of the CSU and contributing significantly to the building of a high performing, stakeholder centric organisation that is fit for purpose and in pursuit of continuous improvement through all aspects of CSU's work;
Acting as a role model for leaders and managers within the CSU;
Executing and owning stakeholder engagement, both thematic and geographical, leading in specific areas as directed by the CFO;
The role will take the lead on the following:
Delivery of Finance services to the CCG managing, developing and maintaining capability within the Finance function to ensure effective delivery of services to the CCGs and other external customers;
Financial aspects of performance management - developing an effective and efficient performance management framework for delivering the key priorities determined in the Corporate Plan;
Strategic Planning and advice - develop strategies and plans that will deliver sustainable, high quality services within affordable levels.
Commerciality - The postholder will need to adopt a commercial mindset and proactively provide advice through research, analysis and review on complex financial issues facing the organisation.
Corporate Governance and risk - ensuring that the CSU maximises the use of its resources, both internal and external, manages its risk and develops a strong corporate governance environment;
Corporate Programme Management Office aside from strategic considerations, ensuring effective development of projects and programmes to support the business needs of the CSU.

Skills required
CCAB or CIMA qualified and University degree or equivalent qualification
At least five years' experience of working at a strategic and very senior management level
At least 5 years post qualification
Demonstrable track record of success in multidisciplinary settings and in leadership roles
Demonstrable track record of leading, contracting and performance management
Advanced specialist knowledge of financial management including market -management/procurement, contracting and performance management
Ability to balance and manage multiple agendas and ability to meet deadlines and manage time
Highly developed motivational, influencing and negotiating skills with proven track records of
Highly developed analytical skills (financial and non-financial)
A self motivated team player committed to open collegiate and corporate effectiveness.
