DBA Sybase/Oracle - Contract - Dublin

Provide technical support to build, configure and maintain application databases across all Systems EMEA applications.
Ensure all Systems EMEA application databases are secure, reliable and resilient.
Provide application database services to Systems EMEA Delivery project teams
Provide guidance to Systems EMEA teams on optimal utilization of database technologies
Database design and implementation
Capacity planning of application databases
Installation and support of DBA products and tools
Setup and maintain application database documentation and standards
Application-level support of production database instances
Application-driven and adhoc backup and restores of database instances
Database security and user provisioning
Database/application tuning and performance monitoring
Database re-organizations, de-fragmentations, other maintenance to ensure database performance and reliability
Implement application database releases and patches under Change Control
Business continuity and DR
Data encryption and data masking
Maintain and evidence SDLC controls for Internal and Sarbanes Oxley Audit
Participate in a rota to cover on-call and shifts.
English fluency essential, with strong documentation skills
Well organized with strong analytic and decision making skills
Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and the ability to work as part of a team
Excellent communicator with a positive attitude towards change
Good knowledge of database administration, programming and systems analysis procedures.
Knowledge of data architecture principles.
Detailed knowledge of Sybase server 15.x, Oracle, 9, 10, 11, SQL server 2005, 2008, DB2 9 across Windows and Unix platforms.
Windows and Unix Scripting.
PHP knowledge, Pro-Active DBA by Whitesands Ltd, Sitescope
Knowledge of Client Server systems, one or more programming languages a plus including PHP.
Third Level Education in a related discipline
Over 5 years experience working as a DBA supporting enterprise systems utilizing at least two of the following: Sybase, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server.
Insurance or financial services background desirable
