DBA - Database Administrator - DB2 - UDB

DBA - DB2 - UDB - Database Administrator - Contract - 3 months. Nottingham

Leading FTSE 50 client in the Nottingham area is looking to recruit an additional Database Administrator. The Database Administrator will support DB" UDB databases in a 24X7 high availability OLTP and Datawarehouse environments. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, performance monitoring, tuning, backup/recovery, script development and analysis of new technologies. The candidate will develop physical data models and generate DDL and also assist in database design and development efforts.

Responsibilities will also include clear and concise communication with all levels of technical and business management staff and the ability to work effectively in a diverse technical team with minimal supervision. The position will require oncall 24X7 support production systems on a rotation basis with other team members.

You will:

-Have solid experience of DBA responsibilities in DB2 UDB in UNIX/Linux environments
-Database design skills in both OLTP and Datawarehouse environments
-HADR and clustering strategies
-Database administration on large scaled application databases (oltp. Datawarehouse)
-Proficient SQL debugging/tuning and explain plan analysis
-UNIX Shell Scripting
-Disaster Recovery and Fail over strategy planning
-SAN storage knowledge

Knowlegde of the following is preferred, but not essential and does not need to be hands - on experience:

-DB2 UDB v9x database administration
-Database partitioning
-HADR and clustering strategies
-Database administration on large scaled application databases
-Proficient SQL debugging/tuning and explain plan analysis
-UNIX Shell Scripting
-Disaster Recovery and Fail-over strategy planning
-SAN storage knowledge
