On behalf of our client, a leading global company within finance, we are looking for a DB2 DATA & DATABASE ARCHITECT & ENGINEER. For this contract position based in Zürich in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible. Your main responsibilities will be:

- Database Optimization, Backup & Restore strategies, Indexes, XML optimization
- Performance Tuning - Strategies for improved performance across the whole Performance Stack
- Disaster Recovery and High Availability - Techniques such as Linux Clustering, Tivoli Storage Automation, HADR SAN Replication, Global Mirroring
- Extending functionality, sometimes integrating with Legacy systems
- Integration with External Applications
- Capacity Planning
- Dataflow analysis for performance improvement to reduce physical IO in a complex environment

The skills and experience needed for this position are:

- Experienced DB2 Architect and Engineer
- Strong skills in Linux, Unix and Windows
- Warehouse experience (Banking)
- Experience with new Storage technologies like 'Flash storage', Storage tiring
- Experience with Column based Databases like Terradata, Neteeza
- Programming (Perl, Shell)
