DATACOM ENGINEER

As part of the Assurance and Managed Service team for the Datacom product line, you will be responsible for:

-Remote and on-site support on datacom products in The Netherlands.
- Communicate with the customer on:
- Product precautions/prewarnings related to customer equipment/software
- Maintenance meetings
- customer concerns relating to the products and solutions
- Ticket handling.
- Upgrade of equipment
- Install and upgrade Network Management Systems. Configure and test North Bound Interfaces (MTOSI/Corba).
- Discuss options and solutions with the customers regarding Network Management Systems (installation and upgrade).
- Perform new equipment and NMS software testing based on customer requirements.

KEY TASKS;

-  Upgrade equipment and Network Management Systems based on customer requirements;
- Perform troubleshooting on Network Management Systems and Network Elements;
- New product testing (Network Management Systems and Network Elements);
- Act as the main interface for maintenance issues with one of the key customers in The Netherlands.

You will support the following equipment. INITIALLY THE FOCUS WILL BE ON THE NE40X.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKLOAD AND ENVIRONMENT;

You will be located in Amsterdam in the local office, it is a full time job 8 hours per day (Mon-Fri) but we do not expect a 9 - 5 mentality. Some work needs to be done in the maintenance windows of the customers, which means you can be requested to work at night or in the weekend. You will also be part of an on-call team.

- 40 hours per week, no 9 - 5 mentality,
- Willing to due overtime if required,

As part of the AMS team, you should be able to trouble shoot issues and escalate to next level when necessary. Open minded, able to work in a small team of highly skilled professionals and stress resistant. Good customer facing skills, a disciplined worker with high analytical abilities and multi-tasking abilities. You have good communication skills.

- Experience as a Support Engineer (8+ years)
- Work experience from equipment vendor or telecom provider
- Experience with equipment from Huawei, Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Redback etc.
- Be at least CCNA (or equivalent) certified.
- Able to work under stress
- Structured and precise work attitude
- Pro-active
- Familiar with the OSI model
- Experience with ticketing systems
- Work experience with the following technologies/protocols: IP, GE, MPLS, MPLS-TE, BRAS/BNG, MP-BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, PPPoE/IPoE, L3 VPN, ETH-trunk, OSPF, QoS (5+ years).
- Experience working with Network management Applications (5+ years)
- Experience with North Bound Interfaces, XML/Corba (5+ years)
- Experience with Solaris (or another Unix based OS)
- Knowledge of Scripting and databases would be an advantage
- Be fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written)
- HBO or equivalent qualification
