DATABASE ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Van Buren, MI

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The Database Engineer - AppFactory is responsible for assisting businesses in re-factoring and migrating their applications to cloud providers. In this role, you will work closely with business application owners and enterprise architects to create and leverage best practices, mentor teams, and provide technical domain expertise to accelerate migrating applications to the cloud.

- Work closely with application owners to understand the purpose and functionality of the applications to improve the success of migrations
- Provide architectural consultation to application teams utilizing best practices, design patterns and standards in modifying and migrating applications to public and hybrid cloud environments
- Educate and mentor peers and application teams on best practices for deploying, modifying and migrating existing applications into cloud-aware applications
- Document best practices, design patterns and standards that will be common to multiple applications
- Participate in architecture and code reviews
- Assist application teams with integrating applications into operational services and processes
- Participate on multiple agile scrum teams, interacting with other team members including business application teams, quality assurance, and project management

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, analytics or a related field, or equivalent years of work experience
- Database administration experience in virtual or cloud environments with database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, and/or SQL Server
- Database programming experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL in enterprise environments
- Experience with designing, deploying and migrating highly available multi-tiered applications to public cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure preferred)
- Minimum of six (6) years of database administration experience in virtual or cloud environments with database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, and/or SQL Server
- Minimum of two (2) years of database programming experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL in enterprise environments
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with designing, deploying and migrating highly available multi-tiered applications to public cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure preferred)

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong understanding of database architecture concepts in design, optimization and execution in production environments
- Experience in providing solution architecture in a cloud-based environment for performance, availability, scalability, interoperability, and maintainability
- Working knowledge of application and data integration technologies and patterns
- Experience setting up and migrating relational databases to different AWS services (RDS, Redshift, etc) and/or Azure
- Experience with generalized data ingest, ontology, and data cataloging
- Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for cloud based databases
- Experience with one or more Scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, Python or Powershell
- Proven track record of delivering excellent results in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently

- Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
- Highly organized and efficient; able to balance competing priorities and execute accordingly
