Database Developer/Datawarehouse Developer - Contract - Amsterdam

My client uses a Datawarehouse in order to provide information and insight into their customer base. They have built a Web based environment on top of this database in order to generate reports to be used throughout the company.

They have a need right now for a freelance Database Developer for this database to design and develop ETL processes and to generate ad-hoc reports on request.

The responsibilities of the role are as follows: 

- Design, develop, tune, deploy, and support ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform, and load into the datawarehouse using a variety of techniques and technologies such as Shell Scripting, SQL*Loader, and custom PL/SQL
- Design, develop, and support automation of load processes.
- Review, enhance, and optimize performance  of existing processes.
- Author and assist with applicable documentation of ETL processes including design documents, source/target mappings, transformation specifications, re-startability etc.
- Understand business context and suggest appropriate methods to acquire data from various performance sensitive source systems.
- Review and offer suggestions for enhancements to existing, and development of future, data models from an ETL impact/assessment perspective.
- Perform data analysis, validation/QA, troubleshoot and resolve data/integration issues, effectively articulate the business impact of data issues to peers and stakeholders.
- Define and implement logging/auditing and reporting of ETL processes metrics.
- Define and implementation of ETL design and development standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Assist the BI analysts.
- Cooperate with web-developers for presentation of automatic reports.

My client is looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years experience in an Oracle Datawarehouse Production Environment as well as an advanced knowledge of the methodologies, principles, and modelling techniques associated with Oracle Datawarehouse.

You should be considered an expert at PL/SQL, Shell Scripting and SQL Tuning and have an excellent understanding of SQL*Loader and PL/SQL optimisation as well as a good knowledge of Linux.
