Database Developer £350 - £450 per day, 50 Days' work

We are seeking a database developer to build a solution to meet usage reporting requirements for books (including Cambridge Books Online) and journals (Cambridge Journals Online). This is a contract position that requires at least some in-house attendance. The work will include liaison with the Press offshore development team who will be responsible for the front-end.

Timescale

We estimate this work will require approximately 50 days of work, to be carried out between May and July 2015 and must be completed by 31 July 2015.

Skills Required

• RDMS solutions for business intelligence
• Oracle (SQL, PSQL)
• ETL

Tasks

• Build summary reports in database based on large volumes of usage data
• Design ETL process to optimise use of resource given constraints
• Work with developers building the reporting front end
• Design and run accuracy and performance tests
• Documentation

Qualities

• Ability to plan and manage own work based on requirements and existing schemas
• Communications skills to explain how the system works both to technical and to non-technical users
• Used to working with large volumes of data
• Able to take ETL design decisions and justify these
• Experience with web usage date may be an advantage but is not essential
