Database Architect/ETL Developer

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an elite Agile team developing world class mobile web apps and Business Intelligence tools. The candidate will be responsible for creating all of the required data structures in Erwin to support the design. The candidate will additionally write much of the code required and needs to have strong SQL skills. The desired candidate needs to have strong analytical skills and ability to perform troubleshooting with little oversight.

This position will be responsible for all the database needs for an entire application, including design, development, and support. The Candidate needs to be able to independently analyze source systems (we use all 3 of Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata), understand desired functionality, and design a complete application data model and ETL solution to support the Back End needs of a new application. Will also work with Front End developers to create the appropriate stored procedures necessary to retrieve/insert/update/delete data that the application needs to display or alter. This job is for the person who can design and build a Back End application from end to end, including interfaces with upstream systems to collect data, complex data transformations inside the application, and working with Front End developers to create the appropriate stored procedures/macros necessary to retrieve/insert/update data that the Application GUI needs to display or alter.

SKILLS:

REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of 3 years SQL programming experience in a major relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata) with strong preference given to Teradata experience; Candidates must be able to pass a SQL programming test.
- Must have excellent language skills
- Must have the ability to write complex data warehouse oriented SQL code for ETL.
- 3+ years in SQL Server, Teradata or Oracle development with Expert skills in procedural SQL for at least one of them
- Expert in Erwin data modelling
- 1+ years of advanced Unix Shell Scripting
- Knowledge of star schema data and 3NF modelling
- Experience designing complete applications from scratch
- Experience maintaining/modifying existing ETL code
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

- Data modelling skills for an application environment are required.
- Strong designer skills and the ability to see the whole picture are critical. Candidate needs to be able to think through an entire design to account for as many possible scenarios as possible.
- Be able to architect a data model and processes to make an application come to life based solely on wire frames.
- Often it is the designer/developer who will find critical business requirement assumption errors and will need to make suggestions on how to alter requirements or processes to make the application achieve the desired result.

PREFERRED:

- Skills administering and maintaining a SQL Server database are preferred.
- SSIS skills are preferred.
- Teradata BTEQ skills are also preferred.
- Able to learn quickly and independently
- Able to work with little direction and self motivated.
- Exceptional English speaking and writing skills (the candidate must be able to be clearly understood over the phone)
