Database Applications Engineer - 3 Months

Database Applications Engineer required for a 3 month contract based in Cambridge. The position involves all aspects of the front-end and database design and maintenance in our characterisation automated test systems. From the front-end point of view this includes architecture design, evaluation and selection of technologies, development and testing of web based graphical user interfaces. From the database point of view this includes architecture, evaluation and selection of technologies, development, test and administration.

Skills summary:

- Excellent proven understanding of, at least, one RDBMS (mySQL or postgreSQL strongly preferred) handling big data
- Excellent proven understanding of web based applications, preferably built with Python and Django (PHP accepted in certain circumstances)
- Excellent understanding of typical client side technologies: HTML, CSS and Javascript (jQuery)
- Understanding of debugging and high-volume data application optimisation techniques
- Full software development life cycle experience
