Database and Unix Systems Administrator - English Speaking Contract in

For a global bank based here in Zurich we are looking for a Systems Administrator to join the team.

Overview of business area or project:

Server & DB Provisioning located in Zurich supervises and troubleshoots semi-automated server- and DB-installations in a highly complex multi domain and -zone environment. Server & DB Provisioniing further on has a regular role in the UAT testing of delivery tool developments as well as in UAT testing of new server builds.

- Installations, Upgrades and Reinstallations of the central Servers and DBs (Linux, Windows, ESX) using various deployment tools such as BMC Bladelogic and/or SPUDs
- Ensure proactively the on-time delivery server or DB requests with a semi-automated tool, troubleshoot on errors and chase other teams for remediation
- Ensure further increase of customer satisfaction regarding quality and lead time.

Key Responsibilities:

- On-time delivery of the Servers & DBs to the various operations departments according planning by Provisioning Request Management workflow tool
- Daily proactive follow-ups and escalations at internal partners (such as hardware- or network-departments etc.) to avoid delays.
- Weekly reviewals and approvals of system designs (building plans) before the internal Infrastructure Review Board.
- Troubleshooting in a typical network infrastructure (network-, Firewall, capacity-, zone- and general OS related problems)
- Proactive and positive communication with the operations departments and other departmens (very important: an initiative and communicative personality with drive is wanted!)
- Improvement of the systems delivery in all aspects, helping to resolve returning problems
- Taking part in meetings and telephone conferences
- Taking part in telephone conferences (English)
- Work in user acceptance testings (UAT) on behalf of Provisioning and HS (new builds, new deployment systems etc.)

Essentials Skills and Qualifications:

1. EXCELLENT WORKING TECHNIQUES: ABLE TO CONTINUOUSLY AND PROACTIVELY TRACK AND CHASE OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND TO DELIVER IN PARALLEL MODE SYSTEMS AND DBS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE

2. PLUS 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH SERVER OSS SUCH AS WINDOWS AND/OR LINUX AND CLUSTERING OF THEM

3. ONE OR TWO YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH DATA BASES SUCH AS SQL AND/OR ORACLE

4. VERY GOOD WRITTEN AND SPOKEN ENGLISH
