Database Analyst

Our client is a hugely popular computer components brand seeking a DBA to be responsible for developing flexible, scalable data architecture and logical and physical database designs that satisfy business needs while promoting stability and data integrity. The candidate will work on both strategic and tactical projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work with enterprise data architects and end customers to understand business processes and system functionality to develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Analyze data from conceptualization through presentation of the data.
- Document entity relationship diagrams with metadata information, identifying corporate sources for master data, documenting high-level and low-level data architectures using modelling tools, creating data quality metrics and risk analysis.
- Excel at working with cross-organizational project teams and interact closely with business and technical development teams and Database Administrators to provide guidance and support on requirements gathering and data design.
- Promote an image of high quality organization through expertise and responsiveness.
- Ensure that all data quality deliverables are completed in support of the programs and projects to which they are assigned, ensuring program designs meet data quality standards.
- Provide subject matter expertise, consultation, and impact analysis for projects affecting or utilizing data for the subject areas they are responsible for, as well as defining/maintaining the goal-state data design and overall data performance requirements for the subject areas.

REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum of 5 to 7 years data modelling and analysis experience, developing databases in support of business applications and Datawarehouse reporting structures
- Solid understanding of relational and object relational databases
- Proficiency in entity relationship diagramming (data modelling) at the conceptual, logical and physical levels, including the capture of appropriate business and technical metadata using tools such as ErWin, ER/Studio
- Advanced SQL writing/reading skills required
- Dimensional modelling experience, preferably for a data mart or a Datawarehouse
- Strong analytical skills, especially with regard to tracing and understanding data flows and transformations
- Demonstrated clear written and verbal communications skills with customers and stakeholders
- Ability to estimate data analysis workload and meet deliverables within the context of a project environment
- Ability to effectively work within a team
- Ability to document decisions, adhere to standards, and communicate actively within a group

NICE TO HAVE

- Knowledge of reporting/analytics applications and software
- Knowledge and experience of multiple RDBMS - SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata
- Knowledge of data integration methods
