DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (MS SQL) - NETSCC ISOLUTIONS

The University of Southampton is home to the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC), established in 2008. NETSCC manages evaluation research programmes and other research on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). NETSCC is currently seeking to appoint a candidate with demonstrable experience in database administration of Microsoft SQL Server to support its Information Systems Team with the delivery of Business Intelligence services, including database development, report writing and information analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with our Information Systems Team to facilitate development requirements, and will be familiar with a wide range of database technologies, as well as supporting and configuring reporting solutions, BI warehouses and data sources in order to provide transactional, management and decision support information.

In addition to a general background in IT and information, the successful candidate will have experience of the following DBA tasks - specifically in  Microsoft SQL Server environment (2008R2 or newer):

- Database instance configuration
- Query optimisation
- Backup
- Replication
- Database design
- Database development
- ER documentation.

This is a Fixed Term appointment until 31st March 2018. The post is expected to be full time, but part time working may be considered for the right candidate(s).
